“Rubber on Road”

This song is about coming home.  I lived out in Colorado for a couple of years.  I do cherish those years as being a big turning point in my life.  I really do love being back in New England and especially Maine.  I don’t think I’ll ever be able to live to far from the ocean again.

Lyrics:

How do I know what to trust

When all I see around me

Is streets and avenues

I go to work and come home

And get drunk well it seems to me

Not a life I chose

The viscous cycle I abhor

Gonna ride out to that shore

I can feel that rubber

Rubber on Road

I can feel that rubber

Rubber on Road

I take a drive

the city lights

Fade away behind me

To open skies and trees

I think about some girl

In another world

I stopped chasing her

She gave me nothing but grief

I just need a place to go

Gonna ride out to that shore

I can feel that rubber

Rubber on Road

I can feel that rubber

Rubber on Road

Bad choices have made me a lonely grave

But I ain't lying dead

The ocean tides help me to quiet

All the buzzing in my head

There's so much to explore

Gonna ride out to the shore

I can feel that rubber

Rubber on Road

I can feel that rubber

Rubber on Road
